We Finally Got Rain!!

Yesterday we had our 7 year anniversery celebration for the 'shoreline' church. Once a year Instead of being at the community center we rent a park and have church under a big tent. After the service we have a mini Carnival, with In-n-Out burgers, ice cream, a big silde and a dunk tank etc...Can I just say we haven't had rain in Orange County for months and months and months =). That is until yesterday! We got it all..... thunder...lightning.....a waterspout and of course...rain - It was as amazing as the crazy storms I saw while I was living in Illinois. It definitly had the potential to shut down our party. But even though it rained 2 inches in somes places within a mile of us, we only got a little rain! it was the most incredible thing - It didn't start raining until everyone was under the tent and the service began and then as if on cue, during the last song as people were getting up to leave, it stopped raining! God is good! ( these pics were taken yesterday during the storm by Khristian- a local surfer in San Clemente)

Indian Village Camp @ Forest Home

It's Tuesday evening and I just got back from taking our elementary students to camp at Indian Village. What a terrific week we had. The theme was "Bulls Eye - aiming our lives at Jesus". it was so fun to spend the week sleeping in a Tipi - although I didn't enjoy sharing our tipi with the mice :) I did enjoy seeing kids make new friends and get excited about memorizing Bible verses, as well as swimming at the lake and trying the giant swing. I was really tired when I got home, but I have to say it was the best week I've had at camp in a long time! Debbie, one of the other counselors and I challenged each other to learn the mega memory verse - which was Ephesians 6:10-20, and I can proudly say that we did it! And I've said it a few times since - so I'm fairly confident that I won't forget it.

Shasta Lake

Here is my Second official blog entry - I'm back from spening a week up in Northen California on a Houseboat at Shasta Lake. The weather was almost perfect! about 100 degrees during the day then nice and cool at night, a perfect way to sleep out under the stars. Here is a picture of just one of the beautiful sunsets we saw.
Our Week pretty much consisted of going to bed late, getting up late, having our morning latte - sometimes we would ski before the latte if the water was looking like glass just to get it in before the wind picked up.
The rest of the day was spent eating, tubing, skiing, laying out on a raft and then eating some more. It really was a great week :)

New Orleans...What I liked best

We went to New Orleans the first part of July to vist my Dad. He is working there right now with a non-profit company called IBTS. They are there helping the the building and safety department with the rebuilding efforts - this is a picture of me in a hat I fell in love with that I bought while we were shopping downtown - I haven't worn it since but who knows...I guess I just need the right occasion. :)
If your headed to New Orleans then here are a couple of palces I would reccommend. Dragos Seafood Restaurant, I tried the house specialty - Charbroiled Oysters - here's a little description. "The combination of garlic, butter and herbs is so good you could almost call it a potion" - They spoon the sauce over the oyster then it is dusted with parmesan cheese and cooked in the shell on a hot grill - So Good! The other palce I would suggest is called Cafe Du Monde, the original french market coffee stand. They have just a few things on the menu but the Cafe Au Lait and Beignets (deep fried dough with tons of powered sugar on them) are out of this world! just in case my description wasn't good enought here is a picture.
We sure enjoyed our visit it was great to spend some time with my Dad and Stepmom. This last picture of me and my boyfriend Tom, was taken outside my Dad's new apartment overlooking Lake Poncetrain.
